Q. How do I clean liver residues on glassware wells?

A. Cleaning glassware wells with liver residues, rich in proteins that can cross-link, can be very difficult.   To clean liver residues, we recommend you soak the glassware wells in a warm (110-130 deg F/ ~40 – 55 deg C maximum ) 1% Tergazyme™ Enzyme-Active Powdered Detergent solution (10 g/L or 1.25 oz/gal).  Rinse thoroughly.  Try to minimize the opportunity for liver residues to dry on to the wells by cleaning as soon as is practical after use or by at least putting the glassware in to a water or detergent soak such as a 1% Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner,  or Liquinox™ Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent solution as soon as is practical after use.

Have more application questions about detergents or tough residues?  Ask our cleaning experts at Ask Alconox, or request a copy of the Alconox Guide to Critical Cleaning.

Downloadable certificates of analysis, technical bulletins, SDS, and trace analysis are available from the Alconox website.

You can also request a free sample of Tergazyme, Alconox, Liquinox or any Alconox Inc. detergent by completing the questionnaire at Get Sample.
