Q: We are using a competitor liquid detergent cleaner, Extran® AP 15, for use in automatic washers equipped with liquid dosing systems. Unfortunately, this detergent, according to their website, is no longer available in the 4 L size we purchase, and there is limited availability of the 20 L size.  Do you have an equivalent you can recommend?  We understand it is designed for use with laboratory glassware and apparatuses.  According to the literature, it is effective removing starch and protein residues.

A: Yes we do!  Solujet® Low-Foaming Phosphate-Free Liquid detergent is an ideal substitute.  Solujet detergent is a highly alkaline detergent containing potassium hydroxide, silicate of soda, and high wetting surfactants.  These high wetting surfactants enhance emulsifying, wetting, and dispersing.  The surfactants also allow faster, more efficient cleaning and easier rinsing.  The potassium salts offer higher solubility of saponified residues without loss of solubility due to the common ion effect found with sodium salts.  Both the competitor detergent and Solujet detergent are phosphate free, low foaming, high alkaline cleaners intended for laboratory washer use.  Most importantly, Alconox Inc. is pleased to offer a variety of sizes including 5 gallon jerry cans and 15 gallon drums.  Solujet detergent is recommended for general use in concentrations from 0.25% to 1% in hot water wash cycles.

Contact Alconox for validation support to simplify adopting Solujet detergent.
