Q. What is the best way to clean LC/MS glassware?

A. We have published a procedure on the formal LC/MS (liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry) glassware cleaning procedure with Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent

Here is an excerpt of our procedure:

  1. Presoak all glassware and equipment as soon after use as is feasible in an ambient temperature 1% Liquinox solution (10 mL/L). Try to avoid allowing any residues to dry on to the items before presoaking. Immerse completely and rotate to release any air bubbles from any air entrapping shaped items. Allow to soak until ready for washing.  Note: Liquinox detergent does not contain any polyethylene glycol or cationic surfactant sticky substances that sometimes cause interfering residues on glassware.
  2. Make a fresh warm or hot (40-60°C) 1% solution of Liquinox (10 mL/L) for washing when ready to wash. Do not use too much detergent as this can make rinsing more difficult.
  3. Transfer items from presoak to the… Contact us at cleaning@alconox.com for the full procedure.
