Q. Do you have the density of the Alconox detergent?  We currently clean one equipment piece using Alconox detergent by adding 0.4Kg of Alconox in to 40 Kg of tap water. We want to provide additional adding units (ie. Ounces) for a better handling of the detergent on the manufacturing areas and for that reason, we need the density of the detergent.  Please, advise.

A. Thanks for your request for Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner density.  Alconox detergent is a hygroscopic (moisture absorbing) dry blended powder with a density that varies with settling and humidity.  The density of Alconox detergent varies from 0.85 g/mL to 1.1 g/mL, with a typical density of 0.95 g/mL.  If you use the worst case density of 0.85 g/mL to assure that you are getting a minimum of the desired amount of detergent, then to measure out 0.4 Kg of Alconox powder, you need 470 mL.  I recommend using a scant half liter container, a pint (16 fl oz), or two cups of detergent to get your 0.4 kg of Alconox powder.

For more information on Alconox powdered detergent, check out the technical bulletin and/or sds (Safety Data Sheet).

You can also request a free sample of this or any Alconox Inc. detergent by completing the questionnaire at Get Sample.
