Q. In reviewing the SDS for Liquinox, we noticed that it says “Should not be released into the environment. Prevent from reaching drains, sewer or waterway.” How do you recommend we rinse components if Liquinox should not reach the drain?

A. Great question and rest assured that Liquinox detergent has been an extremely safe and mild for a long time.

The section you mention in the SDS for Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent , 6.1, refers to untreated drains (i.e. the street) and other direct-to-environment pathways. The drains from labs, manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities and the like will have septic and/or treatment processes prior to the environment. In fact, we often refer to Liquinox as “drain safe,” referring to sink drains and other drains leading to water treatment environments.

Liquinox detergent has been used for decades around the globe for a wide away of healthcare, pharma, biotech and environmental industries. It is a neutral range pH, phosphate-free, and biodegradable without any added dyes, fragrances, brighteners, or softeners.  Of course your local EHS Manager or equivalent should be consulted for drain and disposal of any substance.

This will be the same for our other drain-safe aqueous detergents.
