Dilution Precision in Concentration Measurements

Q. Do I determine detergent dilution by weight or by volume or both?

A. In a laboratory setting, the most common method is to either make a weight/weight dilution (10-20 g Alconox detergent in 990 g of water), or a weight/volume dilution (10-20 g Alconox in 990 mL of water) for 1-2% solutions.  In manufacturing situations, often directions are written volume/volume or volume/weight.

Measuring Surface Tension without Tensiometer?

Q. Is there any way to “eyeball” surface tension to see if it’s dropping when roughly measuring concentration or bath life?
A. To numerically measure surface tension, you need a tensiometer and this is the recommended method. Tensiometers come in many varieties including…

Optimum Percent Liquinox

Q. What is the optimum percent liquinox detergent to use?
A. As a general statement, optimum detergency is reached at a 1% concentration (optimum defined as amount of soil removed per unit of detergent used).

Determining Optimum Detergency for Liquinox

How do you determine optimum detergency for Liquinox detergent? As a general statement, optimum detergency is reached at a 1-2% concentration (optimum defined as amount of soil removed per unit of detergent used). Maximum detergency is typically reached at a…
