Q. Why am I getting as high as 170% recovery when using Total Organic Carbon (TOC) with Alconox detergent?

A. There are several possible reasons for high TOC recovery:

1. TOC contamination from sample vials – be sure to use TOC grade to clean sample vials – be sure to use equipment blanks to compensate for any interference from the sample vials.

2. Be sure to use TOC grade swabs for your TOC testing.
