Q: How can I clean and sanitize my musical instruments?
Thorough cleaning and rinsing will perform a sanitizing procedure on your musical instruments, or any hard surface. This cleaned surface can then be formerly disinfected or sterilized as needed, if needed. Instruments that are for personal use may not need disinfection after thorough cleaning, while those that might be shared, should absolutely be.
The following are our recommendations for proper musical instrument cleaning:
- Woodwinds – ½% Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent; clean with a wet wipe, rinse with a 2nd wipe, dry with a 3rd dry wipe
- Brass and similar instruments – 2% Citranox® Liquid Acid Cleaner and Detergent for brass- clean with a wet wipe, rinse under running water (if feasible), else wipe rinse per above. Quickly dry.
