Vitamin E Acetate

Q: You recently recommended hot water for cleaning cosmetics grade silicone that we were having a big problem with.  That seemed to be the missing peace.  We have the same struggles with Vitamin E Acetate.  Should we use hot there?

A: Vitamin E acetate, or alpha-Tocopherol acetate, can definitely be a cleaning challenge.  And indeed heat would be my initial recommendation.  Heat, for most residues, accelerates cleaning.

Sometimes when something “doesn’t work” it’s because it was taking too long at the temperature of the process.  Review this when times allows: Going Green with Cold Cleaning.  We can consider high emulsifying Detonox® Ultimate Precision Cleaner or Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner for out of place cleaning including soaking, scrubbing and ultrasonic. Mechanical action would always be helpful – think dishes at home.

Similarly Solujet® Low-Foaming Phosphate-Free Liquid and Alcojet® Low Foaming Powdered Detergent for powder/liquid alternatives for washers and CIP systems.
