Cleaning Animal Products Residue

Q:  We are looking for the best cleaner for cleaning equipment used to process animal products.  We would like an option for cleaning animal products residue on small parts in an ultrasonic and an option for a large scale washer.

A: To clean equipment used to grind, dry and defat animal products we would enthusiastically recommend Tergazyme® Enzyme-Active Powdered Detergent.  It is a powerful emulsifier of organic and oily residues, enhanced with protein enzymes for efficient removal of proteinaceous residues.  A warm (not hot) 1-3% solution and thorough rinsing: How to Clean Proteins with Enzymatic Detergent.  It is important to both avoid excessive temperature (< 130F/55C) to avoid denaturing the enzymes, and to use the solution within 8 hours of formulation to avoid autocatalysis of the proteases.  

For the washer – typically large scale washers have liquid dispensing systems – we would want to take advantage of Detojet® Low Foaming Liquid Detergent and its oxidation cleaning mechanisms.  It is a very low foam detergent and safe to use in high-pressure sprayers and washers. Alcojet® Low Foaming Powdered Detergent can similarly be considered as a powdered option with similar oxidation and proteinaceous residue removal capability.
