Q. What do you recommend for cleaning veterinary equipment? Our equipment needs to be free of all interfering residues. We need to clean, before sterilizing, transfer equipment used for artificial insemination and other procedures..
A. Manual cleaning with Tergazyme® Enzyme-Active Powdered Detergent or Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent will provide a clean, residue-free surface prior to sterilization for this sensitive equipment. As you indicate, it is vital to clean before sterilizing in any critical healthcare application such as described here. Sterilization processes are not typically designed to remove anything but the lightest of residues. Hence, your result may be “sterile” residue. Certainly not desirable. Per the CDC and other authorities, we always want to clean first.
For cleaning of general organic, environmental and oily residue, we would recommend soaking in a 1-2% Liquinox solution. For equipment with bioresidues, we would recommend a 1-2% Tergazyme soak, as its proteolytic enzymes, will make short work of blood, mucous and other bodily fluid residues. For equipment to be cleaning by a washer, we would recommend Alcojet® Low Foaming Powdered Detergent.
Our veterinary, critical cleaning detergents leave all surfaces residue free and ready for sterilization. The free-rinsing detergents are without added dyes, softeners, brighteners, or fragrances. This allows for a clean, residue-free surface, and no interfering residues.
All of our recommended veterinary detergents are also used in the human healthcare industry.
