Laboratory Cleaning: Oil Samples

Q. We work with oil samples so it is necessary to get a good cleaner for this kind of material.

A. For manual cleaning of glass and metal sampling equipment and labware, use a warm or hot 1% Liquinox solution (10 mL/L or 1.25 oz/gal) followed by a thorough warm or hot rinse.  Be sure the first rinse is warm or hot in order to avoid the risk of breaking the emulsion formed with the Liquinox and redepositing oils during rinsing.
