Q: We regularly use Detonox throughout the facility for cleaning cannabis residues. We also use it for floor cleaning in a manual way. What do you recommend for an automatic floor scrubber?

A: Absolutely, utilizing Detonox® Ultimate Precision Cleaner in a floor scrubber is not only recommended but can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of your cleaning protocols within cannabis facilities.

Detonox detergent is a versatile cleaner with both powerful emulsification and chelation cleaning mechanisms, ensuring consistent results across various cleaning applications.

When using Detonox in an automatic floor scrubber, consider the following guidelines to achieve optimal results:

  1. Dilution: Prepare a solution of Detonox by diluting it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, typically around 3-5% concentration. This ensures effective cleaning without leaving residues.
  2. Scrubber Settings: Adjust the floor scrubber’s settings to match the type of flooring and level of soil. Detonox is effective on a wide range of residues, but proper machine settings are crucial for maximum efficiency.
  3. Water Temperature: Like with manual cleaning, using warmer water can improve cleaning outcomes. Ensure the water temperature is within the safe operating limits of your floor scrubber.
  4. Regular Maintenance: To prevent cross-contamination and ensure the longevity of your scrubber, regularly clean and maintain the machine. This includes emptying and cleaning the recovery tank, washing the brushes or pads, and inspecting for any wear and tear. Further routine floor cleaning where a lower concentration of Detonox detergent can be used (1-3% for example) can ensure that difficult buildup does not occur.
  5. Spot Cleaning: For areas with heavy buildup that the scrubber cannot fully address, a pre-treatment with a small amount of Detonox or Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner paste (made by adding a minimal amount of water to the powder) can be applied. Allow it to sit for a brief period before running the scrubber over the area.

This approach with a floor scrubber, using Detonox, streamlines the cleaning process in cannabis facilities, ensuring thorough removal of residues while maintaining the integrity and safety of the flooring. Important to note that Detonox detergent does foam. And some floor scrubbers are not designed for higher foaming detergents, although many are. For applications where lower foaming is required, several other detergents can be considered including Alcojet® Low Foaming Powdered Detergent, Solujet® Low-Foaming Phosphate-Free Liquid and Keylajet® Low-foaming Chelating High Alkaline Liquid. As some of these are higher pH products flooring compatibility should be verified. We are always happy to discuss!
