Q: What product do you recommend to clean glycerin off of medical device equipment?

A: To remove and clean glycerin/glycerol, an organic sugar alcohol, from various parts we would recommend a warm 1-2% solution of either Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner or Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent (depending on your preference for a powder or liquid concentrate, respectively) and thorough rinsing.  They are both powerful emulsifiers of organic and oily residues. Followed by thorough rinsing, you should be good to go.

For washers, we would recommend Alcojet® Low Foaming Powdered Detergent for washers that take powders and gels, and Solujet® Low-Foaming Phosphate-Free Liquid for liquid dispensing washers.  These both would also be warm 1-2% solutions. In all cases, optimization of time, temperature and concentration can be done based on specific application needs and glycerin content.

These recommendations can be used for glycerin residue in other industries including Food Processing, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics and Biotech.

Similarly, other related residues used in medical device storage and lubrication needs can be cleaned using the above detergents.
