Michael will present on Day 1 (May 28) from 16:20–16:50 PM CET, delivering a session titled:

“CIP Detergents and pH: To Hazmat or not to Hazmat”

The session offers a comprehensive review of cleaning concepts, chemistry, and detergency as they apply to pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Michael will walk attendees through:

• Aqueous detergent cleaning fundamentals, with a detailed focus on automated Clean-In-Place (CIP) cleaning methods, their advantages and limitations, and the chemistry that drives their performance
• Surfactant types and related chemistries used in pharmaceutical cleaning applications
• A lifecycle approach to cleaning — covering critical pre-cleaning setup, in-process procedures, and best practices for post-cleaning steps long after the final rinse
• A real-world case study: a recent automated cleaning validation of a dermatological product, including the requirements, procedures followed, results, and the residue detection methods selected for both residual product and detergent

As Vice President of Strategy at Alconox, LLC, Michael brings extensive experience at the intersection of cleaning chemistry, pharmaceutical compliance, and manufacturing strategy. His work supports customers across pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and precision manufacturing sectors in building cleaning validation programs that are both scientifically sound and inspection-ready.

Michael joins a distinguished speaker faculty at this year’s summit, including experts from Pfizer, Amgen, Takeda, Biogen, STERIS, Ecolab, and Fresenius Kabi — a testament to the caliber of dialogue the Cleaning Validation Summit attracts.

Michael holds a BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, and brings over 25 years of experience across the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, and laboratory industries.
