How To Choose a Phosphate-Free Clean In Place (CIP) Detergent

Q: We are a biotech company looking to upgrade our cleaning with phosphate-free detergents used in CIP systems.  We were recommended to contact Alconox Inc.  Can you describe the uses of your low foam detergents, like Solujet, Tergajet and Detergent 8?  Any others?  What surfactants and cleaning constituents are there?

A: Great question. As you are interested in alkaline, phosphate-free detergents, those are indeed the three to focus on.

• Detergent 8® Low-Foaming Ion-Free Detergent is ion free, and very good at removing alkaline hydrolysable residues and glycol ether soluble residues.  It is generally narrower in its scope of residues cleaned. Detergent 8 cleaner is also very good at removing adhesive and solder flux residues.
• Tergajet® Low-Foaming Phosphate-Free Detergent contains a bleaching activator and a low foaming non ionic surfactant.  As it is a powdered format, it is a great general cleaner for phosphate-free applications with cup-in-door washers or other powdered detergent units.
