Q. I am doing tissue culture and having problems reliably growing cultures. I was told it may be my cleaning procedure. Can you help?

A. Clean interference-free glassware is necessary for successful tissue culture work.  Upon consulting “Essential Procedures for Clinical Microbiology,” (Isenberg, H;: U of Michigan, ASM Press, 1998, 532) it was found that one should “soak the glassware overnight in a detergent suitable for cell culture work (e.g. Liquinox)”. Follow this with a thorough purified water rinsing and drying covered in a clean environment to achieve interference-free glassware.
