Q: We are buying a Formlabs Fuse 3D Printer. They recommend cleaning the optics with Alconox. What accessories do we need to safely use Alconox detergent?
A: The recommendation for using Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner with the Formlabs Fuse 3D Printer is a very sound one. A liquid functionally similar detergent can also be considered: Liquinox® Critical Cleaning Liquid Detergent, they are both very mild, yet effective emulsifiers of organic, oily and environmental residues. Regarding your inquiry as to what accessories are needed, per the detergents’ SDS, PPE is recommended, such as gloves and goggles. However, this is a conservative approach. They are on the same level of “harshness” as typical dish detergents yet—just in a medical, residue-free grade.
If low foaming is preferred, Luminox® Low-Foaming Neutral pH Liquid Detergent can be considered.
