One detergent used for CIP, manual, and ultrasonic cleaning of stainless-steel components

Q: Can I use one detergent across CIP, manual, and ultrasonic cleaning, or do I need different products for each?

A: The short answer is: yes, one detergent, can indeed often handle all three, and our Halojet® Low-Foam High Emulsification Cleaner is a strong candidate for that role. The low-foaming profile of Halojet detergent is exactly what you need for clean-in-place systems and automated washers, where excessive foam can interfere with pump performance and spray coverage. Because it is also a high-emulsification formula, it breaks down oily and greasy soils efficiently regardless of how it is being applied.

What makes Halojet detergent versatile across methods is its relatively moderate pH for an alkaline cleaner. That means it is gentle enough for manual cleaning without the concerns you might have with a more aggressive high-alkaline formulation, and it is equally at home in an ultrasonic bath, working along side with cavitation energy (yes: you can use low foam detergents in ultrasonic units).

Our Senior Chemist Marius Dräger and Associate Chemist Nick DiGrandi, who both formulated Halojet, walk through exactly this kind of multi-method flexibility in the video below. They explain how the low-foam, high-emulsification chemistry was designed with real-world cleaning workflows in mind.

Why low foam matters for CIP, and why Halojet still works for manual and ultrasonic cleaning.

So rather than maintaining separate products and separate protocols for each cleaning method, a single Halojet detergent solution can be validated across CIP, manual, and ultrasonic applications, simplifying your process and your documentation.
